Minsk, the capital of Belarus was first mentioned in the history books in 1067. Minsk is older than Moscow and Warsaw, Vilnius and Lvov, Berlin and Stockholm. Minsk was build as the fortress of the Principality of Polatsk. During its history it becomes the center of the most important state formations – the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Belarusian People’s Republic (25th March 1918), the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (1st January 1919), the Republic of Belarus (27th July 1990). Since then, after many wars and reconstructions, it appears today as the cultural, politic and economic center of Belarus, a clean and calm, beautiful and safe city with unique belarussian character and modern European image.

The city has the area 305,47 km², 1 814 700 of population, and it has been growing every day.

War marked places are numerous in Belarus. We recommend you to visit the unique national memorial Khatyn’ – the monument to honor the victims of the Second World War in Belarus and the villages buried by the Nazis with their inhabitants. The excursion includes also the Glory Kurgan –the monument for courage and heroism of soviet solders.

The national memorial Staline Line is the exact copy of the most powerful fortification system of soviet time where the II World War actions were held.
